Romania Green Building Council is organising the National Conference ”Change Romania with Build Upon! where will showcase the Conclusions și Recommendations Rapport for Romania’s National Renovation Strategy.

In the last weeks we have travelled over 4000 km, organised 10 session of public consultation in Cluj, Iași, Galați, Brașov, Craiova, Timișoara and Bucharest, where we met and discussed with over 400 people from different ages, social and professionals categories in order to co-create and support Romania’s National Renovation Strategy. The goal of this consultation was to facilitate the dialogues and responsibilization of the interested parties in order to transform the existent buildings, both public and private, to be more energy efficient and sustainable.

Context: Almost 80% of our time in spent in buildings: being home, working, shopping or visiting public institutions. The safety and health of this buildings having an incredible impact on the population. Romania, as a member of United Nation and the European Union, has to work towards limiting the global warming under 2°C until the end of this century, according to COP21 treaty in Paris. Buildings are held responsible for 40% of the energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emission in the European Union.

ParticipantsRepresentatives of government, local administration, the business community, NGOs, Research & Academia, building users representatives, Romania Green Building Council and other experts in the construction field.

Venue: Hanul Gabroveni, build in 1856, became Cultural Center of Bucharest ARCUB in 1996, being a public cultural service under the authority of the General Council of Bucharest City Hall. ARCUB  is the only institution of its kind in Romania and its mission is to bridge the local authority and civil society, cultural projects developed here having an important socio-educative scope.
